Maile Flanagan took birth in Honolulu, Hawaii. Her father was working for U.S. military intelligence as a spy for the military. When she was four and a half year old, her family moved to Bangkok, Thailand and as she reached 10, they moved to Germany. In Germany, they lived in Nurnberg, and Munich. Maile joined Department of Defense School Munich America High School and earned her graduation in 1983. She next attended the Boston College and became a member of the student comedy troupe My Mother’s Fleabag.
Maile Flanagan is openly gay and is married to Lesa Hammett. Maile Flanagan soon moved to Minneapolis and joined the comedy troupe Every Mother’s Nightmare. She also performed stand up comedy and theatre in same city. In 1996, she moved to Los Angeles, California and currently resides there.
She had an important role in ‘Bad Seed’ which won a LA Weekly Theater Award for Best Comedy Ensemble. Her next appearances were on television, commercials, animation, and films etc. In 2005, she received a nomination for an Annie Award for Voice Acting in an Animated Television Program. In 2006, she won Daytime Emmy Award for Outstanding Performer in an Animated Program for ‘Jakers! The Adventures of Piggley Winks’.
Her Los Angeles theater credits include her work with writer/director Justin Tanner at Third Stage in Burbank in his shows Oklahomo!, Wife Swappers, Pot Mom, and Zombie Attack! Etc.
